How to prepare for the Activity?

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Siliguri/Bagdogra Airport to Yuksom (5-6 hrs drive)

Morning Pick Up from Siliguri/Bagdogra Airport -Drive to the heritage village of Yuksom, a sleepy hamlet beautifully located at the edge of the Kanchenjunga National Park.

The scenic drive through hilly roads takes 5-6 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. After arrival, check in to your village homestay hosted by a local family.

Depending on daylight remaining, spend the time visiting the local market and the Praying wheel temple nearby.

Overnight at Yuksom Homestay.

Day 2: Yuksom Village Exploration and Monastery Hike

Today explore the offbeat village - Yuksom was the first capital of Sikkim and and has a significant place in Sikkim's ancient history. Start the day by going on a short forest hike to Dubdi monastery perched on a hilltop (the oldest monastery in Sikkim).

Extend the hike to go onwards to see a waterfall nearby. Walk back through the village crossing the the farms and tiny plantations of the locals.

Walk the alleys and lanes of the village, meeting and interacting with the friendly locals. Later in the day, visit the Norbugang Coronation throne and the Karthok lake. Walk back to your homestay to enjoy the local cuisine along with organic local millet wine called Chang in Tongba. Overnight at Yuksom Homestay.

Day 3: Trip to Khecheopalri Lake and Kanchenjunga Waterfalls

Drive to the Khecheopalri village and visit the sacred Lake-a wish-fulfilling sacred site and one of the holiest lakes of Sikkim. Enroute, stop for sometime at the Kanchenjunga Waterfalls (there is small zip line in the area , if you’re feeling adventurous).

Check in to another beautiful homestay hosted by a lovely Nepali family - the homestay is exquisitely built at a secluded hilly ridge with pristine mountain surroundings and zero crowd.

Later in the day, take a short ridge walk to the nearby stupa and monastery. Get an excellent aerial view of the lake on the way to the stupa. Overnight at Khecheopalri Ridge Homestay.

Day 4: Trip to Gangtok via Pelling and Rabdentse Ruins (6 hrs drive)

Today, start from Khecheopalri and drive to Gangtok- the capital of Sikkim, the centre of all major activities and a melting pot of various cultures and communities.

Enroute visit the scenic town of Pelling - a popular place that provides one of the best views of the mighty Kanchenjunga. Optional visit to the Rimbi Orange Garden on the way to spend some time by the river. At Pelling, do an easy forest hike to the magnificent Rabdentse Ruins - the palatial relics offering a blend of history and excellent panoramic views.

After Gangtok arrival, check in to your hotel and later head out for a leisurely evening stroll to the MG Marg. Overnight at Gangtok Hotel.

Day 5: Gangtok Curated Sightseeing

Take a local curated sightseeing tour of Gangtok and its surroundings visiting ancient monasteries, chortens, waterfalls, and beautiful viewpoints. Pay a visit to the Handicraft and Handlooms centre, a great place to shop for handloom, handicrafts and wood-carved local items and also to observe how they are made. Later, spend the last evening resting/relaxing at your cozy hotel or exploring/shopping at the vibrant local markets/eating out at the local Tibetan restaurants.

Overnight at Gangtok Hotel.

Day 6: Farewell from mountains (4-5 hrs drive)

Bid adieu to Sikkim and travel back to the plains of Siliguri. Drive to Siliguri hotel or get a drop-off directly to Bagdogra Airport.

Depart for home.
